Maybe organizing a talk about Imam WDM's life, vision, and achievements followed by a discussion of how we can follow his legacy and reach out to bridge the gap between the two communities. Of course, it would be key to invite our African American brothers and sisters and hear from them first hand.Huda Shaka`https://www.blogger.com/profile/18189454741786600084noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8059583388671362146.post-46380762859266530312008-09-16T03:25:00.000-07:002008-09-16T03:25:00.000-07:00SubhanAllah, such a powerful statement. While reading this, I was reminded of a lecture that was held during ISNA sometime ago with Imam Siraj Wahaj and ( I think Arif Shaikh as well? ) discussing this very issue. I know I tend to put in a personal reflection - but seeing as how that lecture (more like open forum in a way) has helped to open my eyes and make me more aware of my community (though perhaps not directly) To listen to these brothers and sisters openly talk about their (Negative) treatment from other Muslims really affected me. I am far from perfect, but it has helped me to be more aware of my actions around Muslims in general. In sha' Allah this article will stand as a good reminder to all to bridge the gaps between other communities and remind that our actions (and non actions) can deeply affect others. Jazaky Allahu khayran Zahra for sharing this with us. :)Sarah Al-Habibhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17262367580815193915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8059583388671362146.post-7131234252088035402008-09-15T17:54:00.000-07:002008-09-15T17:54:00.000-07:00SubhanAllah - that was amazing!Insha'Allah we can ...SubhanAllah - that was amazing!<BR/><BR/>Insha'Allah we can all live up to the quote: "No matter what happens, in good times and in bad, we have to be the brothers and sisters no one expects us to be."<BR/><BR/>Ameen to all his duaas.Alaahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17029024603053614660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8059583388671362146.post-60096417993765589142008-09-15T14:39:00.000-07:002008-09-15T14:39:00.000-07:00Ameen.Ameen.Marya Bangeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14366163520767431212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8059583388671362146.post-78796358960098312952008-09-15T14:07:00.000-07:002008-09-15T14:07:00.000-07:00mashaAllah that was excellentmashaAllah that was excellentAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11970296020919609401noreply@blogger.com
