I am a liberal Democrat who is HAPPY to see Sami Al-Arian and his ilk rot in prison. Do NOT make the mistake of thinking those who dislike Bush are going to support Muslim causes...too many are supporting the plan to destroy Israel. Take your backward, 7th century culture out of our lives.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8059583388671362146.post-1837333388600505342007-07-22T20:26:00.000-07:002007-07-22T20:26:00.000-07:00"...WHY ARE THEY NOT IN PRISON? WHY ARE THEY STILL..."...WHY ARE THEY NOT IN PRISON? WHY ARE THEY STILL DESTROYING THIS COUNTRY?"

Very good questions!
I really would like to hear why people think these folks are still in power and still manage to destroy the country with such high disapproval ratings!

My pathetic two cents (probably 3/4ths of a cent on a standard scale!): The demos, and here I'm using the understanding Plato and Aristotle had of it, that is, 'the mob of equality', has been detached from its political abilities and potentials...the exact goals and conditions set upon it by Aristotlean ideal democracy. In fact, he pointed out in Politics (book 4, chapter three I believe?) that representatives serve as pacifiers, spreading 'content' amongst the unruly mob...Ranciere, 2000 years later, points also to the police force...they keep us moving, don't they? "There's nothing to see here, move along," total alienation? The demos' potential has been relegated to the police...they decide when dissent is large enough to actually cause a stir..no? "Partitionors of the Sensible"...they divide the line between the demos and those privileged to speak. These small practices, as Foucault would say, powers that touch the very inner corners of the subject that is micropolitics, in my weak opinion, play a large part in the suppression of a dissenting body..

Then again...we vote! Or was Goldman right...'if voting changed anything, they'd make it illegal'?

Wasalaamualaiikum,
AmerAGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05122188913242967621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8059583388671362146.post-90183034769901360632007-07-19T20:53:00.000-07:002007-07-19T20:53:00.000-07:00ridiculous.ridiculous.Marya Bangeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14366163520767431212noreply@blogger.com
